Go punch a hole in the sky (aka Summer)

Upon re-watching the 1983 film, ‘The Right Stuff’, based on a book by Tom Wolfe, I was moved by the plight of the test pilots in the desert of New Mexico, at Edwards Air Force Base. Chuck Yeager, considered the best of them all, was famed for breaking the sound barrier. In the film, the actress who plays Yeager’s wife, tells her husband to “go punch a hole in the sky”.

I titled this piece after that line. I’m fascinated by the idea of breaking through one realm into another.
